Discount Calculator

What you pay and what you save. Work forwards from a price, backwards from a sale price, or stack several discounts one after another — which is not the same as adding them up.

$
Pick any currency for display. No exchange rates are involved — the symbol is a label, and the arithmetic is the same in every currency.

How to Use the Discount Calculator

  1. Enter the original price.
  2. Enter the discount as a percentage, or the sale price if you are working backwards.
  3. Read the final price and the amount saved.

What You Can Do

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate a percentage off a price?

Multiply the price by the percentage, divide by 100, and subtract the result from the price.

Is 20% off then 10% off the same as 30% off?

No. The second discount applies to the already reduced price, so the pair comes to 28% off, not 30%.

How do I find the original price from a sale price?

Divide the sale price by one minus the discount rate. A price of £80 after 20% off started at £80 ÷ 0.8, which is £100.

Does this calculator include sales tax or VAT?

No. It works on the prices you enter. Apply tax separately if your prices exclude it.
