How is exact age calculated?

Whole years are counted first, then whole months, then the days left over. That is why the day count is never larger than the length of a month.

What happens if I was born on 29 February?

In years without a 29 February, the birthday is treated as falling on 1 March, so the age still advances once a year.

Can I calculate my age on a future date?

Yes. Change the second date to any date you like, which is handy for checking an age on an application deadline.

Why does the month count sometimes change when the day does?

Months are different lengths. Crossing from a 31-day month into a 30-day one changes how many whole months fit between the dates.
